As part of Capstone Convergence and in support of The University of Alabama’s Future Ready Flagship vision, the University is preparing to launch Workday, a cloud-based platform that will bring many everyday administrative tasks into one simple, consistent experience. Workday will go live in February 2028, marking a significant step toward a more unified, efficient and future-ready administrative environment across campus.
Workday is widely used across higher education and for good reason. It will replace many of UA’s aging, disconnected tools with a single system designed to make routine work clearer, faster and more reliable. From managing personal information to completing HR and finance tasks, Workday will serve as a central hub for many of the activities faculty and staff complete every day. This will help the University operate in ways that align with our Future Ready Flagship goals.
For employees, this means a noticeable shift in how daily tasks get done. Instead of navigating multiple systems or relying on manual steps, you’ll be able to update your contact information, check your pay slip, submit time off or approve routine requests all in one place with a modern interface that’s easy to use.
A key part of preparing for this transition is the work of UA’s Readiness Teams. Representing colleges and divisions across campus, these teams help connect the project with the people who will be most affected by the change. Readiness Team members share information, identify potential impacts, support local planning efforts and help ensure faculty and staff have the resources they need to prepare for new ways of working in Workday. Their partnership will play an important role in helping the University achieve a smooth and successful implementation.
As we move closer to implementation, we’ll continue sharing training opportunities, timelines and resources to help you feel confident and prepared. Readiness Teams will also help communicate updates, gather feedback and connect employees with support resources throughout the implementation journey. For now, here’s a quick look at what Workday will bring to campus:
- One unified experience for HR, finance and employee self-service
- A clean, intuitive interface that simplifies everyday actions
- Mobile access so you can review information or take action from your phone or tablet
- Streamlined processes that reduce manual steps and retire outdated systems
- Real-time information for pay slips, benefits and job details
Workday is an important milestone in UA’s journey toward a more connected, efficient and Future Ready campus. As part of Capstone Convergence, this transformation is about more than a new system. It’s about changing how we work together to better support our students, faculty and staff.
