The June 9 Change Network kickoff at the Bryant Conference Center marked a major milestone for Capstone Convergence, bringing energy and focus to the work ahead. Readiness Team members from 24 colleges and divisions across The University of Alabama came together to align on purpose, expectations and the critical role they will play in preparing campus for change.
Capstone Convergence is driving the implementation of Workday and the Collaborative Operations & Research Ecosystem (CORE), transforming how work gets done across campus every day. Grounded in the Future Ready Flagship vision, the kickoff reinforced UA’s commitment to building a more connected, modern and adaptable university, with people at the center of every step. Attendees also received updates on current progress and a look ahead at what faculty and staff can expect in the coming months.
A central focus of the session was defining the role of Readiness Teams. These teams will help their colleges and divisions prepare for change by identifying what is working well, where gaps may exist and what support is needed. They will serve as a vital link between the central project teams and day-to-day operations, helping ensure their areas stay informed, engaged and ready for upcoming changes tied to Workday and CORE.
The kickoff also highlighted the importance of open, ongoing communication. Team members were encouraged to share what they are hearing, raise questions early and help shape how changes are introduced in their areas. This feedback-driven approach will help address challenges sooner and keep efforts aligned with real needs across campus.
By the end of the session, Readiness Team members left ready to take action, with a clear understanding of their role and next steps. As they begin assessing readiness, surfacing challenges and supporting their teams through change, they will play a key role in helping colleagues understand what is changing, why it matters and how to prepare, advancing both Capstone Convergence and the broader Future Ready Flagship vision.
